Scientific investigations

The scientists of the Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the NASU obtained the following results of scientific investigations:

The regularities of inter-year variability of oceanic fields determined by variations of the large-scale interaction in the ocean-atmosphere- continent system are studied, the process of formation development and damping of the tropical hurricanes are investigated.

The structure, dynamics and energetic of synoptical eddies in a set of oceanic regions and marginal partially closed marine basins are studied.

The theory is developed and the methods of computations are created, the maps of distribution of hydrologic, hydrophysical, hydrochemical characteristics, radioactiveness field, the ocean bottom contour, parameters determining the heat balance in the ocean-atmosphere system.

The Marine Hydrophysical Institute has been initiating activities dealing with investigation of the Black Sea basin. The scientists have grounded and constructed the generalized scheme of the Black Sea basin water circulation; determined the main parameters of the inter-year, seasonal, synoptical and mesoscale variability of the main hydrophysical and hydrochemical fields; obtained the new data on the spatial-temporal variability of the sea-atmosphere interaction processes, fields of radioactive elements in the Black Sea water of the natural and artificial origin, performed the radio-ecological monitoring of the Black Sea.

The mathematical models of the hydrogen sulphide ecosystem, processes of vertical exchange, water circulation, formation of the Black Sea present-day salinity field, wave regime, etc. are created.

The complex bank, special and cruise banks of data on the state of waters in the Black Sea satellite measurements, hydroacoustic characteristics of the World Ocean are developed and created.
