Founded in January, 1996.
Its basic research lines are:
- developing high-efficiency information systems for data selection and processing, developing prototype information infrastructures;
- elaborating methods and means for paralleling information processing;
- producing methods and means for high-efficiency data processing on the basis of neural-like systems and neural-like networks;
- working out methods and means for image analysis, processing and recognition;
- elaborating methods and means for information protection;
- elaborating and implementing alternative mathematical models and software for supporting decision-making;
- studying heliophysical relations; producing information technologies for ecological monitoring and forecasting the environment state; developing geo-information systems;
- developing systems for social and political monitoring.
Major achievements and developments:
- Theoretical fundamentals for synthesizing highly productive problem-oriented and specialized data processing systems have been developed; they represent principles of hierarchic organization, recursion, deep algorithms paralleling for real-time data processing.
- Basics of the theory of algorithms and real-time data processing systems that have parallel structures have been studied; constructive approaches to algorithms and systems, which take into account their physical and calculative realization, have been developed.
- Basic components of immune-neural technologies of data processing for image analysis and classification have been worked out.
- An information technology for distributed inventory of greenhouse gases and assessing carbon balance of Ukraine has been developed; it permits a choice of inventory levels.
- An adaptive device for image input and processing has been produced; it relies on software-driven rasters with the use of alternative sensors.
- A system for experiment automation has been developed to study the programmed death (apoptosis) of tumour cells treated with anticancer agents.
- A multichannel system for checking parameters of TV transmitters has been produced; it employs direct discretization of high-frequency signal without the necessity of additional analog conversions.
- The program of Lviv oblast informatization has been worked out; the analysis of the state of Lviv oblast informatization has been made at all levels of executive power; the system structure has been determined, requirements to hardware and software formulated, its primary subsystems described.
