Founded in 1994.
Its primary lines of research are:
- high-energy physics and nuclear physics;
- electromagnetic interaction physics;
- physics and engineering of electron accelerators and storage rings.
Major achievements and developments:
- a set of electron accelerators for fundamental research and applied tasks;
- the ‘NE-STOR’ X-ray generator based on Compton backscattering;
- application of isotopes in medicine and other areas;
- development and production of systems for non-destructive examination of NPP materials and components, relying on nuclear-physics methods; elaboration of nuclear-physics methods to detect fissile materials in nuclear waste;
- reconditioning of spent NPP AУ-1500-type iodine charcoal filters, using Institute’s design documentation and technology; development of processes and relevant equipment for renovation of air ventilating systems and active gas purification in the controlled NPP area, using materials and procedures developed in Ukraine.
