Founded on July 19, 1997 to provide strategic forecasts and programs of socio-economic development of Ukraine.
Main research fields: economic theory; modelling of economic development; economic growth and economic restructuring; financial and monetary regulation; development and regulation of financial markets; technological forecasting and innovative policy; modeling and short-term forecasting; sectoral forecasts and analysis of market situation; competition policy and forecasting of industrial potential; economics and policy of agrarian reforms; forms and methods of economic management in agribusiness; monitoring-based research towards socio-economic transformations of Ukrainian society; socio-economic problems of labour; economic history.
The Institute has been actively collaborating with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Secretariate of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, the State Committee for Statistics of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine through joint elaboration of draft laws and normative documents prepared with these institutions and through their expert assessment.
The Institute's researchers implement the results of their studies by providing scientifically validated recommendations and proposals concerning the solution of major problems of Ukraine's socio-economic progress for the interested governmental institutions and agencies. They regularly write for mass media and attend seminars, conferences and symposia.
