The Institute was founded in 1992 on the basis of the Department of Economic and Legal Research within NAS Institute of Industrial Economics.
Its principal study areas are:
- economic law;
- state regulation of the economy;
- economic and legal issues of socio-economic development of territorial systems and distribution of authority between central power bodies and regions;
- legal assistance to business, formation of new organizational&economic structures;
- economic and legal problems of preventing economic law infringements;
- harmonization of legislative acts regulating economic relations.
Main research achievements of the Institute:
The Institute conducts and coordinates fundamental economic and legal research, carries out theoretical and applied studies, provides scientific expert examinations and advice towards legal support to the economy, state regulation of economic activities, management of regional and urban systems; it prepares drafts of normative&legal acts, relying on the research done by its specialists.
The major result of its activities is that the scholars of the Institute have proved both the feasibility of conducting economic&legal studies, i.e. cross-disciplinary social studies, and their practical use.
A generalized result of the research done by the Institute is the necessity of the economic&legal provision for optimal correlation between state regulation of the economy and market self-regulation. To solve this task, several works were published and the Economic Code of Ukraine was developed, which became effective as of January, 2004.
Ideas, publications and practical application of scientific developments worked out by the Institute have improved specialists’ competence and teaching quality in such disciplines as regional economy and economic law; it has promoted the publication of respective teaching literature for higher educational institutions.
