Founded on May 11, 1971.

Basic research trends:

studies of organizational&economic fundamentals of promoting and using the research potential of the region under economy reformation in Ukraine; research into problems of management of the science complex of the region and its transformation according to the needs of innovative development of the economy; studying the activities of scientific&innovative complex in the region for ensuring sustainable development; development and introduction of information systems for regional science centers. Besides, the Center carries out research and research-management activities towards increasing the role of science in the development and implementation of efficient economic and social policy in the western oblasts of Ukraine, which aims at combining national and regional interests.

Principal achievements and developments of the Center’s scholars are:

a system for monitoring R&D activities of research institutions in the region and a procedure for analyzing the results of expert assessment of R&D efforts and innovative projects were developed; scientific&methodological fundamentals of extending regional innovative infrastructure was proposed as a factor in improving the efficiency of R&D and innovative activities; relying on structural&functional charts of the information systems of regional science centers, a prototype scheme was produced for introducing information technologies in science centers functioning under the National Academy of Science and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
