The Crimean Science Center was set up in 1997.

In 2006 the work on the project ‘Theoretical and practical aspects of ecogeopolicy and ecogeodynamics of the Crimean region’ was completed. The assessment of the environmental situation in the Crimea in general, and that within its recreational, agricultural, industrial and reserved landscapes was done; ecological&geographical zoning of the Crimea was carried out; ecodynamic models were analyzed.

Research was done into legal backup to sustainable development of the region in terms of ecology. Its results were recommended for introduction to legislative practice; for improving the management of recreation and rehabilitation territories by state authorities and local self-government bodies; for developing legal recommendations towards restricting busines activities in recreation and rehabilitation areas.

Since 2007 extensive research has been carried out under the scheduled project ‘Development of innovative strategy of region’s progress, relying on renewable energy sources, resource and energy saving’.

In accordance with the results of joint competition organized by NAS and the Russian Humanitarian Scientific Foundation, since April, 2007 research project ‘Search for civilizational progress alternatives’ has been under way. Its purpose is to produce accurate models of civilization progress, which could become a positive way of resolving conflicts accumulated in today’s civilization, by the very way of human life on the planet.

The Center, jointly with Crimean universities, is a co-founder of academic editions registered by the Higher Attestment Commission of Ukraine: "The Taurida Bulletin of Computer Science and Mathematics", "Culture of Peoples of the Black-Sea Region" (the journal also has Turkish and Bulgarian versions), "The Taurida Bulletin of Medicine and Biology", "Ecogeopolicy and Ecogeodynamics of the Region".

Science problems and research results are presented as reports at scientific conferences and seminars organized by the Center: the all-Ukrainian scientific&practical conference ‘Ecological audit: its theory and practice’, international scientific conferences ‘Problems of decision-making under uncertainty (PDMU-2007)’, ‘Material and Spiritual Culture of the Peoples of the Black Sea Region from Old Times to Today’, ‘Man in the Context of Today’s Civilizational Process’.

The Center is engaged in inter-departmental coordination work for closer integration of science and education, which is focused on supporting talented youth and preserving the research potential. Within the framework of these activities, an agreement with the ‘Seeker’ Small Academy of Sciences of the Crimea was concluded. Students, post-graduate students, young scholars take active part in discussions at ‘Logos’ academic debate club organized by the Crimean Science Center.

Scholars of the Center publish numerous learned works, monographic writings, collected works and research papers.
