Major achievements:
Donetsk Science Center aims its activities towards ensuring R&D progress in Donbas, advancement of leading science schools, uniting the efforts of scientists and power bodies for implementing efficient regional policy. To ensure the region’s economic growth through attracting innovation, developing science-intensive production, which could be competitive in WTO conditions, scholars of the Center have elaborated a set of normative legal documents for introducing a special regime of innovative activities on the territories of priority development and in special economic zones. The documents were used in drawing up the Law of Ukraine ‘About special economic zones and special investment activities regime in Donetsk oblast’. The ‘Strategy of Donetsk development out to 2020’ has been worked out, taking into account the prospects of hosting the European Football Chmpionship in 2012.
The scientists of the Center have contributed to the elaboration of the ‘Program of R&D progress of Donetsk oblast for the period till 2020’. Among the leading projects is the development of the technology and organization of pilot production of ceramic nanopowders on the basis of Ukrainian raw materials; the powders are intended for engineering and medicine, manufacturing wear-resistant ceramic parts in mechanical engineering and metallurgy etc. The ‘Program of promoting international economic ties’ and the ‘Integrated program of energy efficiency in Luhansk oblast for 1998–2010’ have been worked out for Luhansk region.
Scientists of Academy and industrial research institutions operating under Donetsk Science Center have drawn up documents that facilitate dealing with problems of coal-mining industry. Those are the ‘Program of overcoming the crisis in the coal-mining industry in Donetsk oblast’, ‘Regional ecological&hydrological program for coal-mining industry’, the ‘State program towards diversification of energy resources of coal-and-gas deposits, using alternative technologies of their energy transformation’.
Center’s scientists are engaged in organizing ‘Sviaty Hory’ National Nature Park and ‘Meotida’, ‘Skelevy’, ‘Donetskiy Kriazh’ regional landscape parks.
