| The official Soviet humor had many manifestations. The rapporteur focused on satirical editions such as Crocodile and Pepper (all-Soviet and Soviet-Ukrainian editions, respectively). The texts and cartoons of Crocodile and Pepper, as well as sources reflecting the work of editorial boards of these publications, their interaction with government officials and readers, allow us to form "theories from below" on the socio-political functions of Soviet official humor. |
