Cycle of papers contains the priority results: at first the group of authors studied the effect of different complex biocenosis components on the course of self-purification processes in the coastal zone, which are used to create a unified system of environmental assessment of the coastal zone of Crimea. This system is based on the principles of an integrated approach to environmental safety in the region and aimed to develop strategies for action in relatively gradual reduction of environmental pollution, conservation and restoration of natural resources of the sea, improving the its quality, science-based actions to conserve and restore biodiversity and implementation of an integrated coastal zone management to ensure balanced socio-economic development. In addition, results are important for planning the construction of waterworks and quality management of coastal waters by creating of the biopositive artificial substrates. The results are relevant to the work on planning of hydrotechnical construction and management of coastal water quality by creating biopositive artificial substrates that promote the development of macrozoobenthos communities. The global level is demonstrated by the results of the work, which were obtained in the framework of several international scientific and technological cooperation projects: Ukrainian-Bulgarian "A comparative analysis of the ecological status of the coastal zones of Ukraine and Bulgaria - the need for appropriate measures to restore" (2009-2010), the Ukrainian-Turkish "Comparing the environmental quality of coastal areas of Ukraine (Sevastopol region) and Turkey (Sinop region): Past and present state" (2010-2011), Ukrainian-German "mathematical methods for the study of coastal ecosystems in coastal areas: common problems and possible solutions", and has been successfully presented at over 40 international conferences. Economic impact: the method of determining the oil content in the samples of macrozoobenthos, which can reduce the material costs of the research, was improved. The practical significance of the results of research aimed at the development and implementation of mechanisms to ensure the protection of the coastal zone of Crimea from the industrial pollution and implementation of measures for the implementation of Ukraine's international obligations "Convention on the Protection of the Black Sea against Pollution" (Bucharest, 1992). Results are introduced: systems hydrobiological cleaning the water environment in the Sevastopol Dolphinarium in 2010, educational process in the Sevastopol branch of the Moscow State University in 2011 and in Sevastopol gymnasium №1 in 2013. Results of the study are set out in 65 publications, including in one of the monograph, 1 PhD thesis abstract, 20 articles in publications, recommended DAK of Ukraine and 3 implementing acts.
